Tucson: Cooking job at dog track, cleanliness required
Pay
Tips are in addition to wage. (Having been to Tucson Greyhound Park we can tell you these people don’t seem to be big tippers. As a matter of fact on one night there was only one woman watching the dogs race but not betting and two people betting. Good luck with the tips. Tips are always an iffy thing any way you slice it. You’d receive better tips at a casino.)

Job Status: Part Time
Job Type: Restaurant/Food Service Entertainment/Gaming/Casino – (No way can this establishment be compared to the glitz of Tucson Indian gaming casinos. Also in casinos, no dogs are injured or die.)
Description
Tucson Greyhound Park is a Southern Arizona tradition offering quality greyhound and thoroughbred horse racing (there is no live horse racing), and family entertainment (I guess it would be considered family entertainment if your family values include inhumane activities like watching dogs stumble and fall to the ground, collide with each other, run into the fence, and cry out in pain.) for over 6 decades. Our ongoing dedication to the community and patrons has established this institution as a tradition in Tucson now, and for many years to come. (As for many years to come, last year TGP sponsored a bill to end live dog racing but still permit simulcast horse & dog racing. The bill died in the Senate but sailed through the House.) (Actually, it appears the city of Tucson would like to distance itself from state sanctioned dog abuse. However, the city of South Tucson, seems like not so much.)
Experienced Short Order Cook required. This position requires more than the ability to prepare sandwiches. Candidates must have the experience to plan and cook a dinner special. Duties also include preparing a variety of hot and cold sandwiches or side dishes.
Good customer service skills are a must as this position has direct contact with our customers. At least 2 years food preparation experience to include prep, stocking, and strong attention to cleanliness. (Cleanliness is next to godliness. Your soul will be warped after you are exposed to the realities at TGP.) Ability to operate a cash register and make accurate change. (Handle money…handle food, put those latex gloves on.)
Here’s the Pima County Board of Health record for TGP.
