Wisconsin Greyhound Racing Vet Speaks Out!

Kudos to the veterinarian who had the courage to speak out about the bad conditions at the Dairyland Greyhound Race Track in Wisconsin.

My question is — Why the hell is there greyhound racing in the middle of a frigid state to begin with? That sounds like torture and animal cruelty.

After a greyhound’s leg snapped in half, she felt the heating system wasn’t working right.

The article goes on to say that last year through November 2008, 15 dogs died. That’s more than one a month. How does greyhound racing differ from dog fighting? Dogs still die.

The article also said that 56 dogs had broken hocks. If you broke it down by month (hypothetically speaking) that’s almost 5 dogs a month to get a broken hock.

What the hell is wrong with our barbaric society that we allow this kind of animal cruelty to continue?
