Greyhounds:N-Word of the Dog World

Because of greyhound racing, greyhounds are the N-word of the dog world.

You don’t see any Golden Retrievers and Boston Terriers running around a track during icy winter sleet or 100-plus degree weather.

You don’t see Border Collies living in small cages for hours on end.

You don’t see the kennel clubs  and dog shows feeding their Pugs and Poodles raw diseased meat (4D) that even the FDA deems as unfit. If 4D meat is so wonderful, why isn’t anyone advertising it on TV? Why aren’t the makers of 4D meat sponsoring dog shows? Where’s their myspace page?

You don’t see 150+ chocolate Labradors going off with some questionable character never to be found again?

The greyhound industry is marred by abuses. While there have been improvements, racing greyhounds are still slaves to their owners, their trainers, their breeders, the bettors, and the state departments of racing that are continually underfunded and/or turn the other cheek because of lobbyists and whose racing commissioners have ties to the racing industry not advocacy.

The United States has outlawed dog fighting and cockfighting. How does greyhound racing differ?  It doesn’t.

Greyhounds still die and suffer a multitude of injuries in the name of sport, gambling, and greed.

Greyhounds have no choice – they’re just dogs.

So long ago, John Lennon sang that women were the N-word of the world.

Today – greyhounds are the N-word of the dog world. (Where’s Bruce Springsteen when I need him?)

Vote Yes on Proposition 3 – to end greyhound racing in Massachusetts by 2010.

Not convinced? Read (9 broken leg dogs in May)

Vote Yes on  Proposition 401 – to make three modest humane improvements that will benefit the race dogs at the South Tucson dog track

You have the right to speak out against greyhound racing.

Silence is deafening.

  1. It’s a sad day when we value money more than life. Tracks make millions of dollars while greyhounds pay the price with their life. And then you wonder how the state of the economy got so bad…

Maybe it’s time for Americans to begin re-evaluating their values and take a stand. Let’s stop shopping and start making our country a place where all life matters, even the greyhounds stuck in tiny cages at the track.

Enough is enough! We can end greyhound racing if people speak out against the abuse.

  2. Half of South Tucson’s precincts have reported- I’m on pins and needles! Right now 401 looks like it’s going to pass! Please, oh please let it pass!!!
The dogs deserve better- They give their all and get crappy food that poisons them in return, they get endless kenneled hours, Steroids, mistreatment. And if you don’t win, don’t perform…you might get handed over to a kill truck operator.
If you are a lucky greyhound, you might get adopted.
Please adopt a greyhound and make one life better.
I have to have faith that people will give the dogs a voice and ask for a better life for them.
    Here’s hoping!
