Aerial Hunting and Greyhound Racing

Up until a few weeks ago, I never heard of aerial hunting and that was a good thing.

Animal cruelty and animal cruelty for sport messes with my soul.

What is aerial hunting?

It is a cruel sport where people pay money to be flown in a small plane while they take aim at wolves and other animals. They shoot these animals from the air or chase them to exhaustion before landing and shooting them point blank. More than 30 years ago, Congress put an end to aerial hunting. But Alaska is exploiting a loophole in federal law to resume the practice.

Watch the video and weep.

Greyhound racing is also a cruel sport where dogs die. They die at the track. They disappear mysteriously. They die on the breeding farms. They suffer debilitating injuries. While track personnel and pro racing people will tell you dogs are “humanely euthanized”, they still die.

Who knows what suffering they have gone through just to die?

Why does there have to be any sport in an industrialized nation where animals die in the name of sport?

Aerial hunting, dog racing, dog fighting, bull fighting, cockfighting, horse racing…it’s all the same to me.
